Success Story: Sean Massakayash

Shawn has always strived for academic success and has made big plans for his future- despite being told as a teenager that he would never achieve these goals because “you have a disability”.

Shawn knew these people were wrong and confidently set out to prove to himself and others that this sort of thinking holds people back from reaching their full potential. In June of 2021 Shawn graduated, with honors, from the General Arts and Sciences program through Confederation College and in June 2022 he will be graduating from his Pre-Health Sciences college program.

While in school he also works at Walmart and enjoys his job there very much. He has been accepted into a Social Services Worker program that he will start in the fall of 2022 and has plans to branch off into working in the mental health field. In addition to this scholastic and employment achievements, Shawn has also recently joined the CLFFD Board of Directors and feels that he can provide a very valuable perspective during their meetings.
