November 2019 Highlights
2019 Trunk or Treat
CLFFD participated in the annual Fort Frances Trunk or Treat this past Halloween. It is always fun to participate in this event and see all the great trick-or-treaters. Great costumes everyone! Special thank you to staff who helped to organize our participation.
Together, We’re Better Contest
The Together, We’re Better contest is an annual contest inviting individual students to submit a story/poem or a class to submit a video expressing why class is better because students who have an intellectual/developmental disability are included and everyone is learning together. The intent is to have students and classes to begin thinking about inclusion and start a conversation about how a diverse class offers a better educational experience for all students.
Winning prizes include resources for the classroom, a pizza party, a tablet for individual entries and much more! The contest deadline is January 28, 2020.
Inclusive Education
Fort Frances local school St. Michael’s is doing great things for inclusive education. They are constantly making efforts to do great things and to make the school environment one that is positive and inclusive. In the photos below you can see a student being awarded with the October Virtue of the Month for courage. The young student has CKDL5 and the staff at this school are constantly finding ways to celebrate her. Keep up the awesome work!

Christmas Art Studio
CLFFD hosted their final Open Art Studio of the year with Mason Jar Snow Globes and ornaments. The session was well attended and everyone enjoyed the activitiy. We hope to secure funding and run the program once again in the summer 2020! Thank you to everyone who came out to our events!
